Modern MINI is the only dedicated publication for the BMW MINI on the news stands in the UK. Bi-monthly, we provide the best roundup of the new MINI scene. Covering the latest news, the magazine's also got technical advice and detailed practical articles, offering step-by-step guidance on maintenance and modifying topics of interest to any owner whether you're handy with a spanner or not. There's also a comprehensive club section, The Vibe, providing an excellent roundup of the owner's clubs and forums, with show reports, events diary and more. Plus we feature real owners' cars, covering enthusiasts from around the world.
Specialist broker Carole Nash has launched a new insurance policy designed specifically for owners of new MINIs.
Unlike mass-market modern car insurance policies, the new scheme is able to cover most modifications and offer salvage retention rights. In addition the policy also provides agreed value for all levels of cover except third party only.
“We’ll look at modifications and, because we’re a specialist dealing daily with non-standard vehicles, should be able to accept most,” says Pete McIlvenny, Director of the cherished cars division. “Basically we’ve identified that there’s a significant group of enthusiasts – club members – who enjoy and modify their modern motors, but use and cherish them like a traditional classic. They represent a very different risk to that managed by mainstream insurers and as such may have found it difficult to find cover and premiums that matches their profile.”
Available only to members of recognised clubs such as the Mini Cooper Register, the policy also incorporates a range of other benefits as standard. These include extensive UK and European breakdown and accident assistance (with Homestart) up to 90 days cover in the EU and other selected European countries, plus up to £100,000 in Motor Legal Protection Insurance. The latter can be used to help recover any uninsured losses and secure compensation for injury if the policyholder is involved in an accident which is not their fault. These simply screw onto the top of each strut and are fitted in under two minutes. Priced at £58.80 per pair, they are also available in Brilliant White, Pepper White, Chili Red, blue and black for £5 extra.
